These days, the most frequently asked question I get is, “how do you juggle being a mom and photographer?”
Well, for starters… It's amazing. It’s wonderful, beautiful, emotional, powerful, complicated, and overwhelming. All at the same time. There are days when I feel like a super mom and say to myself “I’m going to conquer the world!” and I fully believe it. And of course, there are days when I sit beside Fjord with tears in my eyes, because I’m not sure how I can do it all. The amount of amazing days like the former make the latter days worth it.
I travel often for my adventure sessions and weddings, so I decided to start packing up my little family when I could, all around Ontario. Sometimes the trips are long and can be daunting, but you know what… it works for us. This is my why. Somehow, it all just works. Somehow, I get my work done, stay inspired and creative, spend time making memories with Fjord, my husband Shawn and our husky Petee. I believe the best memories are made during these spontaneous, sometimes chaotic moments. Fjord has gained so much experience and has become such a great little traveler at the age of only two years old.
Motherhood isn’t a one-size-fits-all. It’s allowed to be puzzle pieces put together. Every woman who nurtures and encourages, listens to and leads, lifts up, bends low, sacrifices much, and shows up for another — these are mothers.
